Pariter’s golf club partnerships featured in Australian Golf Digest

Australian Golf Digest has highlighted Pariter’s approach to partnering with golf clubs as part of a wider feature exploring the growth of retirement living within golf communities across Australia.

The feature, ‘Living on the fairway: Seniors moment for the ages’, examines how golf clubs are increasingly exploring residential, and retirement living partnerships to strengthen their long-term sustainability, renew ageing infrastructure and create new lifestyle opportunities for their communities.

Pariter features prominently in the article through two of its golf club partnerships – the completed Newgreens Chatswood precinct and the emerging Salus Cumberland development.

A partnership model in action at Chatswood

At Chatswood Golf Club on Sydney's Lower North Shore, Pariter partnered with the Club and Watermark Living to deliver a new precinct incorporating retirement living, a new clubhouse and a reconfigured golf course.

The development includes 106 premium retirement living apartments at Watermark Residences, while the new clubhouse provides facilities shared by residents and golfers, including hospitality and wellness facilities. The golf course itself has been transformed from an 18-hole, par-65 layout into a new 12-hole, par-44 course.

The result demonstrates how a development partnership can help a community organisation renew its infrastructure while maintaining its place and relevance within the local community.

The article also provides an important resident perspective. Chatswood Golf Club president Alan Hall-Watson and his wife Yvonne chose to downsize from their home of 47 years into Watermark Residences, allowing them to remain within the suburb and continue the relationships and routines they had built over many years.

Building on the model at Cumberland

Pariter is now applying its partnership approach at Cumberland Country Golf Club in Greystanes, where Salus Cumberland will deliver approximately 226 retirement living apartments, a new clubhouse and a care hub.

The multi-stage development will be delivered across eight buildings, with Stage 1 incorporating the Club's new clubhouse and three apartment buildings. The Australian Golf Digest feature notes the strong early response to the project, with many purchasers having lived in the local area for 40 to 50 years or more.

That local response reflects an important part of Pariter's approach: creating opportunities for people to move into high-quality retirement living without necessarily leaving the communities in which they have built their lives.

Growing interest in the partnership model

The feature also highlights increasing interest from golf clubs seeking to understand how their land and assets can support their future.

Pariter General Manager of Development Simon Adams told Australian Golf Digest that the business had spoken with more than 20 golf courses over the past 12 months, with many conversations arising through referrals and existing industry relationships.

As a subsidiary of Plenary Group, Pariter has adapted a partnership approach founded on working alongside organisations with long-term infrastructure and community objectives. Rather than partnering with government, Pariter works with golf clubs, bowling clubs, RSLs and other community organisations to explore opportunities that can deliver benefits for both the organisation and the communities they serve.

With a number of existing projects progressing through launch and delivery, Pariter is now looking towards further growth and new partnerships. As Adams notes in the feature, the business is “keen to expand”, with new opportunities and partnerships firmly on the agenda.
